  Adenoma sebaceum
Definition
An enlargement of normal pre-existing sebaceous lobules on the face, the forehead, cheeks, and nose in particular, that results in lesions seen clinically to consist of a rim of yellow papules around a central dell that represents a dilated ostium of a follicle.

Course
The tiny yellow papules of sebaceous gland hyperplasia at first display a subtle central dell. In time, those ring-shaped papules come to resemble doughnuts with the dell in the center becoming increasingly prominent. Lesions of sebaceous gland hyperplasia tend to persist and to enlarge slowly over time, but some of them actually involute in the absence of treatment. New lesions may appear as some older ones disappear.

Therapy
Excision, curettage, cryotherapy, and laser surgery are all effective modes of treatment.
